Heritage on the Green: The Legacy Continues
May 1, 2026
Some courses have a way of making history feel present. Shinnecock Hills is one of them.
Shinnecock Hills Golf Club is one of the oldest and most storied golf institutions in the United States. It was one of the five founding member clubs of the USGA, and it has been the scene of championship golf since the very beginning. The course was designed by William Flynn and built by Dick Wilson, laid out across the natural topography of the Shinnecock Hills on Long Island. It bears more than a passing resemblance to the great links courses of the British Isles, and it has hosted the U.S. Open in 1896, 1986, 1995, 2004, and 2018.
In 2026, the championship returns, and Heritage Landscape Supply Group will be there.
A Growing Legacy on the Green
This year's U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills marks another chapter in what has become an important part of Heritage's identity. Over the past two years, we have had the privilege of being part of some of the most prestigious events in golf:
2025 U.S. Open
2025 Ryder Cup
2026 Texas Children's Houston Open
2026 Senior PGA Championship
Each of these events has reinforced something we already know. The green industry is the backbone of the spaces where life's biggest moments happen. The work of turf and landscape professionals never stops, and it never goes unnoticed by those who truly understand it.
On the Ground at Shinnecock
At the 2026 U.S. Open, Heritage will be working alongside superintendent Jon Jennings, whose team is responsible for preparing and maintaining one of the most demanding championship courses in the world. It takes precision, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Those are the qualities that define the best in this industry and the professionals Heritage is proud to support.
As America's Landscape Distributor, being part of a moment like this means showing up for the people who care for these spaces and providing them with the products, support, and recognition they deserve.
The People Behind the Greens
Heritage on the Green has always been about the superintendents, agronomists, crews, and volunteers who pour everything they have into making these courses worthy of the world's best players. The early mornings and the pride that comes from seeing a course in perfect condition on championship day... now that's the story we're here to tell.
