How Pros Plan, Quote, & Deliver
January 16, 2026
Landscape lighting projects rarely succeed because of one product. They succeed because the planning is right and the support is there before work begins. That was the focus of a recent lighting project and training event in Wylie, Texas, completed in partnership with Alliance Outdoor Lighting.
This job offered a great look at how confident lighting installations take shape when contractors have support through the entire process, from early client chats to those final adjustments.
Planning starts long before installation day

One of the biggest takeaways from the Wylie project was how much happens before fixtures are ever discussed. Planning started with how the space functioned at night. That made it easier to build a lighting plan everyone understood from the start.
That approach matters because it gives contractors a framework to guide clients instead of reacting to requests one fixture at a time. When planning starts this way, installations go smoother, and the finished system reflects how the property is lived in, not just how it looks on paper.
Partnering with vendors to support contractors
At Heritage Landscape Supply, projects like this are about more than showcasing a finished installation. They show what happens when contractors have training and support in place from the beginning.
Working with vendors like Alliance lets us bring lighting training straight to our customers. That means walking through planning and setup early so systems perform the way they should after install day. Contractors are not left guessing when questions come up.
This kind of partnership allows us to support contractors throughout the entire lighting process, from the first client meeting through final system setup and control handoff.
Training using actual client jobs
The Wylie training used a real job site, not a classroom scenario. Contractors were able to see how planning decisions carried through the installation and how the final adjustments were handled after dark. Once you see how the planning shows up on install day, it's easier to take that approach to your own work.
Modern lighting systems also rely more heavily on controls and app-based setups than ever before. Seeing those systems configured and handed over in a real setting helps remove the uncertainty and makes it easier to explain the value to the clients.
Making training accessible through Para Latinos

This training was delivered in Spanish so Spanish-speaking crews could follow the planning and setup without barriers. Partnering with Alliance through Para Latinos helped make that possible.
Para Latinos focuses on giving Spanish-speaking contractors and crews better access to training. Bringing this lighting education in Spanish helped ensure nothing was lost in translation once the work began.
A long-term partner for lighting projects

Projects like the one in Wylie show what happens when contractors are supported with the right tools, training, and partnerships. At Heritage Landscape Supply, our role goes beyond supplying products. We work alongside contractors and vendors to help make lighting projects easier to plan, easier to install, and easier to stand behind once they are complete.
